Gabby Chaves, First place in New Castle

New Castle, Indiana - With a victory on the second race of the Stars of Karting championship series and a strong third place on the first race, Gabby Chaves takes the lead on the championship.

In the final, the lead pack consisted of as many as 12 cars in the early going as Pigot, Chaves and Jaime Ortega made up yet another three-driver breakaway. This fight would escalate into a last lap dice for the win, culminating in a final corner climax.

Pigot held a tight line off turn 11 heading onto the backstretch in an attempt to hold off his competition, but Chaves and Ortega teamed up on the outside to drive past heading into the final turn. Ortega moved hard down the inside in an effort to take the lead, but major contact with Chaves slowed him up, bringing Pigot into the melee as he dove low to make a run at the win. Chaves would go on to the win while Ortega would be DQ’d for "not obeying a regulation with the rulebook."
